Lathes
(Move you mouse over the image below for Lathe Options)

When used with its various accessories, Sherline lathes will perform a host of tasks. They will turn, face, bore, drill, ream, polish, cut tapers, and cut both inch and metric threads. When used with its vertical milling column attachment it can be used for milling, fly cutting, drilling, and boring operations.

Sherline now offers several lathes to fit every budget and need, and they are available with either inch or millimeter calibrations. A high-torque DC motor with variable speed control is standard on each machine. This speed control is internally equipped with a converter that automatically adjusts to incoming AC current from 100 to 240 volts, 50 or 60 cycles/sec without loss of torque.

Milling Machines

Because of the tremendous number of operations that can be performed on a vertical mill, it is commonly regarded as the most important tool in the modern machine shop...the workhorse of the industry.

At first glance, a vertical mill looks similar to a drill press, but there are some important differences; such as, a spindle that can take side loads as well as end loads and an accurate method of moving the work in relation to the spindle on all three axes. Sherline milling machines can perform all of the tasks and operations that a large commercial machine can perform. Operations such as fly cutting, precision drilling, and boring are all routine tasks for the Sherline mill. Because the tool turns rather than the work, much larger parts can be worked on in a mill, and these parts need not be round. The work is securely held, thus extremely accurate hole patterns can be drilled or bored. It is an extremely rigid, accurate tool that accomplishes tough machining jobs with ease.

Chucks
(Move your mouse over the image below for Chuck Options)

Three-jaw and four-jaw chucks offer a quick and convenient way to hold a workpiece while it is turned on the lathe or clamped to a mill table. Three-jaw chucks are normally used to quickly hold round or hexagonal stock. The jaws scroll together as the ring of the chuck is turned. Parts can be held quickly with relatively good accuracy. Runout is less than .003". Four-jaw chucks have jaws that adjust independently. They are used to hold round, square or rectangular work. Since the jaws adjust independently, it is possible to achieve perfect centering of the part with proper adjustment. This process is more time consuming than using a 3-jaw chuck, but it offers the most accuracy. The Sherline chucks above are available in 2.5" and 3.1" diameters. The jaws are reversible for a larger clamping range.

Save time deciding what to get and save money too...

Buying tools as a package offers two advantages. First, we have taken some of the work out of deciding what you need by including the most popular items in our packages. Depending on your needs or your budget, you can set up a good shop with just one purchase.

Second, we have reduced the price of each package to save you some money over buying the selected tools and accessories separately. Even if you don't see a package that exactly suits your needs, you can use the items we have selected as a guide to what we feel are the most important accessories when deciding what to put in your shop.
